View the presentation of the new Hobie 16 World Champions

With just over a month to go before the 22nd Hobie 16 World Championships start in Captiva Island, Florida we have 490 Athletes from 25 countries. We still have more people entering so the numbers will keep increasing. A big thank you to all the sailors for supporting our world championships. There will be some great sailing!

To assist you, those sailors and friends of the sailors who have not booked their accommodation at South Seas Island Resort please do so before the 25th September. After the 25th September our discounted room price may not be available to the room you request. We are asking everyone to ensure you have booked and confirmed your room before the 25th September.

We now require all competitors to bring the life jackets/PFDs you will be racing with. The life jackets/PFD must comply with the IHCA Class General Rule 8.1.

The boat shall be equipped with a personal flotation device (PFD)/life jacket at the correct weight category for each crew member to the minimum standard ISO 12402-5 (CE 50 Newtons), or USCG Type III, or Level 50 (previously AUS PFD 2) or Level 50S (previously AUS PFD 3). The IHCA strongly recommends that life jackets or PFDs be worn at all times.

Full IHCA Class Rules can be found at http://hobieclass.com/class-rules/

Of course, your friends, family and people just wishing to be involved with the Hobie Worlds atmosphere are very welcome to join us. Off-site entry will be at the South Seas Entry Gate and proceed to the hotel registration. Don’t worry they know about the Hobie Worlds and will be expecting guests such as you.  You will pay $5 a carload/vehicle and given a wrist band and parking pass.  Follow the signs along the main road to the parking for Captiva Cruises.

Also thank you to our sponsors /sponsors/ who have made the 22nd Hobie 16 World Championships possible. Please support them as they have supported us.
